Power of Poison

From our rooftop garden to the waters of our Aquarium, our newest special exhibition The Power of Poison: From the Depths of the Sea to Your Own Backyard explores poison’s role in nature, literature, and culture, while taking a deeper look at the toxic species that reside in ecosystems both in Florida and around the world.

Throughout the exhibition, you’ll walk through an immersive replica of Colombia’s Chocó Forest, where dart frogs, huge Brazilian wandering spiders and toxic caterpillars use poison to their advantage every day. You’ll also be lured into the world of fairy tales and fiction through whimsical and theatrical exhibits that explore the role poison has played in myth and culture, with a spotlight on works such as Harry Potter, Macbeth and Snow White. Then, be prepared to channel your inner Sherlock Holmes as you solve a series of poisoning mysteries using your best deductive reasoning.

The Power of Poison will be on view from Saturday, May 26, 2018 through Monday, September 3, 2018 inside the Hsiao Family Special Exhibition Gallery on the first floor of the museum. Admission to The Power of Poison is included in all museum admission tickets.
