Chateau On The Lake Resort & Spa

Missouri’s picturesque Ozark Mountains have long been a draw for those seeking to view truly beautiful fall foliage. Featuring an impressive diversity of trees, the Ozarks enable you to take in a virtual cornucopia of colors. The area’s Red Oaks’ and White Oaks’ leaves produce vivid oranges and deep reds. The Blackgum tree complements with brilliant scarlet leaves, while the Sycamore contributes striking yellow and orange to the picture. The Hickory trees’ leaves turn a magnificent yellow, and the scenic red, orange, purple and yellow leaves of the Sweetgum tree add to the mix. Blend in the reddish-purple leaves of the Dogwood, and the blazing oranges and bright reds of the Sugar Maples, and you’re in for a true treat.

Augusta Reloaded

It is time to get out and experience the action-packed side of this Southern city. With events and activities such as ESi Ironman 70.3 Augusta, Augusta Futurity, rowing regattas, Augusta Southern Nationals drag boat races, mountain bike trails and more, Augusta is home to a new generation of recreation.

Augusta is a popular water sports destination and hosts several annual international water sporting events, including the Augusta Invitational Rowing Regatta, the Head of the South Rowing Regatta, and the Augusta Southern Nationals. Adventurous visitors can bring or rent a kayak or canoe and enjoy both natural and urban scenery while cruising down the canal or the Savannah River. The city’s location provides access to the Savannah River, Lake Olmstead, the Augusta Canal, and J. Strom Thurmond Dam & Lake at Clarks Hill, making the area the perfect setting for swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing.

Other popular routes to discovering the city are by foot and bike. There are multiple trails with various difficulty levels located throughout the city for hikers and bikers to discover. For those who want a relaxing experience, the wide, level towpath of the Augusta Canal, once used by mules to pull canal boats to the head gates, is a popular recreational trail for hikers, cyclists and runners. For the more advanced riders, The Forks Area Trail System (FATS) is a fantastic 20+ mile system. FATS consists of 6 trails: Deep Step, Great Wall, Skinny, Brown Wave, Big Rock and Tower.

Guests who are looking to experience golf, without swinging a club, have plenty of options. The International Disc Golf Association and Disc Golf Hall of Fame are located right outside of Augusta, making it a prime location for disc golf. There are eight courses in the area, providing a challenging course for every skill level.

Those who prefer to be in the air rather than on the ground can soar over Augusta on a personal plane ride, enjoying a panoramic view of the city while watching the sunset from the air. Flights are available from Augusta Aviation located in Daniel Field for just $89.00 per flight, http://www.augustaaviation.com/sunset-tours.php
