Miami Book Fair 2005

Miami Book Fair 2005 will feature Booker Prize-winner Margaret Atwood, Sex in the City creator Candace Bushnell, nonfiction legend Joan Didion, breakout literary sensation Jonathan Safran Foer, comedic actor and muscular dystrophy telethon MC Jerry Lewis, bestselling novelist Terry McMillan, veteran “;60 Minutes” journalist Mike Wallace, and healthy living expert Dr. Andrew Weil. There will be over 250 or more published artists for tens days of readings, discussions, signings and bookselling to be held at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, at 300 NE 2nd Avenue in downtown Miami, on November 13th through the 20th.

The 8-day book fair culminates with the ever-popular Street Fair during the weekend of November 18th through the 20th. Booklovers attend more than 200 readings scheduled on Saturday and Sunday and can start their book buying as early as Friday morning. Creative writing classes taught by visiting writers are scheduled for Friday. Registration fees vary and pre-registration is required. The cost for saturday and sunday is only $5.

Hurricane Jeanine Slams Florida Coast

Jeanine made land fall as a category four and when it arrived in South Florida then spread across Florida, it became a category three. Corona Light Gulfview Championships At End All

The beach volleyball season on the East Coast will end at the $3,000 Corona Light Gulfview Championships October 16-17 at Clearwater Beach. Players from over 20 states and Canada will compete for a share of the cash prizes during the weekend event.

Top men’s players, who will be earning points towards their AVPNext National rankings and a shot at the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, will include, South Carolina stars Nick Lucena and Phil Dalhausser, fresh off the $6,000 Big Shot Championship at the Hilton Casino in Atlantic City and ranked 10th on the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, Miami star Gaston Macau, Canada’s Ahren Cadieux, Charleston, S. Carolina’s 2003 Grand Prix Champion Jake Elliott, NJ star Brian Soldano, and NYC star Elvis Rodriguez.

Top female players will include NYC star Tierra Verde’s Paula Roca, who played the entire AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour during the 2004 season finishing as high as 5th, NYC top player Jane Linn, Laura Romeika, a former pro player in France, and Florida stars Joyce Parker and Tara Burton.
