Arboreal

Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) in Pompano Beach is proud to present Arboreal, an exhibition inspired by the lives of trees and human interaction within a natural environment. The exhibit will be on view in the Central and East Galleries from May 3, 2019 through June 28, 2019.

While grandiose trees easily catch our eye, this exhibition highlights the exquisite character of their unexpected and humble comrades. From preserved, pristine cherry blossoms encased in ice to A-bomb survivors in Hiroshima, trees and their parts continually school us on the process of growth, decay, and resurrection.

This collection, curated by Sharon Lee Hart, features paintings, sculptures, installation, mixed-media, and photo-based works and offers a glimpse into how 12 divergent artists interpret and respond to trees, real and imagined.

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

Presented by Next Stop Broadway’s Teen Theatre Project, The Drowsy Chaperone is a hilarious spoof on old musicals with a loving send-up to the Jazz Music Age, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another!

With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.

THESE SAVAGE SHORES #4

The hit series is back with Issue #4. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all again for choosing to write about and review this book. This book has seen a lot of love and success and that is in no small measure thanks to reviewers and press who have been vocal about it. Much love.

“The shadow of war is cast over the land, where people and promises are broken alike. The smell of blood calls to beasts. Now is the time of monsters. Along these savage shores, where hope is folly, and fortune is the lie of a cruel whim.”
