Blue Skies

Blue Skies is a 1946 American musical comedy starring some of the biggest stars of the day: Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, and Joan Caulfield. Based on a story by Irving Berlin, the film is about a dancer who loves a showgirl who loves a compulsive nightclub-opener who can’t stay committed to anything in life for very long. Filmed in beautiful Technicolor and released by Paramount Pictures, Blue Skies is a delightful time capsule from the era of the great American musicals- full of big splashy dance sequences, beautiful singing and the timeless music of the incomparable Irving Berlin.

It was also the film that inaugurated the Miami Theater Center in 1946 when it first opened it’s door as a movie palace we only find it fitting that as O Cinema & Miami Theater Center join forces to bring the art of cinema back to charming Miami Shores, we kick start it with the film that started it all over 60 years ago.
